'Dining at Sunset, Building Hope at Sunrise' 2012

4th Annual Gala Dinner, Adelaide

Dining at sunset, building hope at Sunrise 2012, which was held on the 1st September at Walford Anglican School for Girls, was another great success! With the very generous support of our donors, volunteers and guests, we raised just over $50,000 profit!

This will cover the cost of one more children’s flat, which will provide a permanent home for 10 Sunrise children at a time, along with a house mother. The flat will be a self contained family unit, with a boys’ bedroom, a girls’ bedroom, a mother’s room, and a large open-plan area with kitchen, dining and living.

We are deeply grateful for everyone who supported the event, from donation of auction items to guests spending on the night at the Nepali market, Brick Wall, Wine Wall and the auctions. We hope you all went away with some goodies!

And again, thank you to all our wonderful volunteers. A truly collaborative effort from you all and another huge step forward for Sunrise.

'Dining at Sunset; Building Hope at Sunrise' Gala Dinners 2011

In September 2011 SCAI held 3 very successful fundraising events in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide with over $220,000 being raised across the 3 events. Nearly all of this was raised specifically for the building of our new Sunrise Children’s Village, which we plan to start building in early 2012.

We are deeply grateful to everyone that attended the events, donated items for the auctions and wine wall and to all of the wonderful volunteers who gave their time, energy and skills leading up to and at the events. Without all of you, we could not have achieved what we did. A truly collaborative effort from everyone and a huge step forward for Sunrise!

Thank you!

Dining at Sunset, Bringing Hope at Sunrise "Adelaide August 2010"

Our 2nd 'Dining at Sunset, Bringing Hope at Sunrise' event was held in Adelaide on Saturday 7th August, with almost 300 guests attending. The main focus was to raise enough money to enable us to purchase land in Kathmandu on which to build our permanent Sunrise home. We are delighted to say the night was an overwhelming success, raising just over $135,000 profit, which, combined with proceeds from last year’s fundraising events and our cumulative savings, will enable us to buy land on the outskirts of Kathmandu in the near future.

Sincere thanks to all the volunteers, sponsors and everyone that attended the event and made it such a fun night and for your incredible generosity, as well as those that kindly made donations but couldn't join us on the night.

We look forward to keeping you up to date on our progress!

Dining at Sunset, Bringing Hope at Sunrise "Melbourne and Adelaide events July 2009"

Both events were an overwhelming success with around 200 guests at each event. It was the 2nd event held in Melbourne and the 1st ever in Adelaide. The guests enjoyed a delicious meal, entertainment, dancing, great company and a great new DVD of the Sunrise children and SCAI's other project work in Nepal. The feedback for both events was very encouraging and was reflected in the generosity of the guests, via bidding for live and silent auction prizes, buying a range of Nepali items at the 'market stall' and a range of donations and sponsorships.
We would like to thank everyone sincerely who supported these events.

Sunrise at Night – Mothers' Day Celebration a Great Success!

SCAI’s first Mothers' Day event was held in 2007 in Sydney. The night was a real family affair and managed to attract a record crowd of 450 people. Mother's were spoilt on the night with Mother's Day Cards drawn by the children at Sunrise Orphanage and loveheart shaped cookies! The night saw many superb performances from a variety of traditional and modern Nepalese and Indian performers. SCAI was overwhelmed by the generosity of those attending and is looking forward to the next event!
