SLC Graduates

The founding members of the Sunrise team met 4 out of the 5 graduates back in early 2004 when they were living at a poorly run orphanage in Kathmandu. At that time they had been forced to deny they had any family but since transferring to Sunrise they have been in regular contact with their families and spend time with them throughout the year. Prior to coming to Sunrise they had received little education. Over the past 8 years, the youth have developed personally as well as academically, and are well on their way to very bright futures.

Meet the 2011 SLC Graduates in our video on YouTube.

Sunrise's first school graduate wins scholarship to Engineering college!

After much preparation, SLC (School Leaving Certificate) graduate Basudev won himself a 3 year scholarship to an Engineering College in Kathmandu.

During the 4 month holidays between graduating from school and commencing college, Basu enthusiastically undertook work experience with architect and engineering company Praj Planners and Designers in Kathmandu, gaining theoretical and practical experience.

He will again be doing practical work experience on the new Sunrise Children’s Village project during his holidays.

The other SLC graduates have also been doing practical work experience and job training;

In the meantime he is studying Science at college and wants to be an Engineer, whether in the British Army or elsewhere.
