With the exception of 2012, Kumaran has volunteered with Sunrise in Nepal for approximately 2 to 4 weeks since 2006. Over this period, he has formed close relationships with the children and staff and has a solid understanding of the evolution and intended future direction of SCAI and its projects.
Kumaran is a Senior Associate of Mercer (Australia) Pty Ltd and has worked within the Retirement consulting business since late 1997. Prior to this, he graduated from the University of Melbourne with a first class Honours degree in Commerce. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia, qualifying in early 2003.
Kumaran has completed postgraduate study at the University of Melbourne, majoring in Australian Studies. Kumaran migrated to Australia as a refugee.
